Scope and content

The CERN TT activities are aimed at maximizing the technological and knowledge return to the Member States and promoting CERN's image as a centre of excellence for technology. The main TT activities are the following :

  • Technology assessment and intellectual property protectionTechnology analysis is a procedure to evaluate the potential of the CERN technologies and where they can be applied in the market. This involves the advice of specialists and technical experts, and intellectual property associated with CERN's technologies may be protected. Intellectual property includes industrial property, inventions (patents), trademarks, industrial designs and copyright.
  • Technology promotion : CERN's technologies are promoted through conferences, industrial workshops, meetings, posters, flyers and brochures. Promotion requires a prior study of the potential application in the relevant industries.
  • Technology dissemination : CERN's dissemination approaches correspond to different stages in the lifecycle of a technological development: TT Research and Development collaboration projects on one hand and the commercialization of CERN intellectual property on the other. Technology dissemination demands a formal framework, such as agreements (licenses, collaborations and projects), that corresponds to the maturity of the technology concerned and the readiness of the acquirers.

The items in this collection include collaboration agreements, contracts and patents concluded with States, International or National organizations.
