Description
MEDLINE is the NLM's premier bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. MEDLINE contains bibliographic citations and author abstracts from more than 4,000 biomedical journals published in the United States and 70 other countries. The file contains over 11 million citations. Coverage is worldwide, but most records are from English-language sources or have English abstracts. The database is designed to assist medical doctors, scientists and others to:
- locate relevant journal articles, conference papers and other documents in response to specific queries, and
- maintain a continuing awareness of the latest published information in any particular field (within the above disciplines).

In general, the database offers the customer bibliographic records with abstracts and full details of the source document which can be located by using the CERN Library catalogue or obtained via our interlibrary loan service.
