  • Eventline, produced by the Elsevier Science and available as file 165 on Dialog. It is a multidisciplinary, multinational database containing information on past and forthcoming events. The database provides data relating to conventions, symposia, exhibitions, trade fairs.
  • Inside Conferences, produced by the BLDSC and available as file 65 on Dialog.
  • SCISEARCH (Science Citation Index Expanded) provides access to current and retrospective bibliographic information, author abstracts, and cited references found in approximately 5,900 of the world's leading scholarly science and technical journals covering more than 150 disciplines. It is accessible via DataStar, Dialog, STN. You can consult the master list of all journal titles covered in ISI products.
  • Wilson Applied Science & Technology Abstracts, accessible on Dialog as file 99.

  • Derwent World Patents Index, available as file 350 (1963-1980) and 351 (1980-to date) on Dialog, and on STN as LWPI.
  • European Patents Fulltext, available as file 348 on Dialog, and on STN as EPFULL.
  • JAPIO, available as file 347 on Dialog, and on STN. This patent database provides the most comprehensive English-language access to Japanese unexamined patent applications.

  • INIS, International Nuclear Information System.
  • INSPEC, available as file 2 (1969-to date), 3 (1969-1982), 4 (1983-to date) on Dialog, on STN. Also available on STN : INSPHYS, including records of the former PHYS file from 1979 to 1994, that did not appear in INSPEC. The database is also searchable directly for CERN users on the Ovid search platform. Print counterparts are (among others) the "Physics Abstracts".
  • SPIN (Searchable Physics Information Notices), file 62 on Dialog. Dates covered : 1975 to the present. Scitation + SPIN are also searchable directly for CERN users on the AIP Web site.

Computer science databases

  • COMPUAB, available on STN, is a bibliographic database from Cambridge Scientific Abstracts that contains information on theoretical and applied computer science. Control and information theories are covered, as well as mathematics, operations research, and probability and statistics.
  • COMPUSCIENCE, available on STN, covers literature in the field of computer science and computer technology with emphasis on the subjects of software, computer systems organization, information systems, computer graphics, new generation computing, and artificial intelligence. The database contains the complete computer science section from the Zentralblatt fuer Mathematik/ Mathematics Abstracts as well as all material from ACM's (Association for Computing Machinery) Computing Reviews and Guide to Computing Literature.
  • INSPEC, available as file 2 (1969-to date), 3 (1969-1982), 4 (1983-to date) on Dialog, and on STN. Among the print counterparts of INSPEC are the "Computer and Control Abstracts".

  • CSA Aerospace & High Technology Database, file 108 on Dialog and available also on STN. The database is produced by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. It also contains reports issued by NASA, other U.S. government agencies, international institutions, universities, and private firms.
  • Ei Compendex, file 8 on Dialog and available also on STN. The database is produced by Engineering Information, Inc.
  • FLUIDEX, file 96 on Dialog. It provides a comprehensive source of information on all aspects of fluid engineering and behaviour and applications of fluids.
  • Pascal , produced by INIST and accessible through Dialog (file 144).

Chemical Engineering

  • Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology Abstracts, file 315 on Dialog and available also on STN as CEABA. It is produced jointly by The Royal Society of Chemistry and DECHEMA, the German Society for Chemical Equipment, Chemical Technology and Biotechnology. The three complementary databases have been combined in order to provide the most comprehensive information available for chemical engineering.

Electrical and Electronic Engineering

  • ELCOM (Electronics and Communications Abstracts) is a bibliographic database from Cambridge Scientific Abstracts that contains citations from recent worldwide literature on theoretical and applied research and business and marketing information for electronic systems, electronic physics, electronic circuits and devices, and communications. Available on STN.
  • INSPEC, available as file 2 (1969-to date), 3 (1969-1982), 4 (1983-to date) on Dialog, and on STN. Among the print counterparts of INSPEC are the "Electrical and Electronics Abstracts".
  • SOLIDSTATE is a STN bibliographic file containing information on solid state studies, including applications, physics, and superconductivity of metallic, plastic, and ceramic materials.

  • Aluminium Industry Abstracts, file 33 on Dialog.
  • Ceramic Abstracts/World Ceramic Abstracts, file 335 on Dialog and available also on STN. The database is produced by the American Ceramic Society.
  • Engineered Materials Abstracts, produced by ASM International (U.S.) and Institute of Metals (U.K.), accessible through Dialog (file 293) and STN. It covers the worldwide literature on the development, processing, and production of ceramic, composite, and polymeric materials.
  • Materials Business File is a bibliographic database covering the worldwide literature on techno-commercial developments in iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, and engineering materials, i.e., ceramics, polymers, composites, and plastics. Available on Dialog as file 269, and on STN.
  • Metadex, file 32 on Dialog and available also on STN. The database is produced by Materials Information of ASM International and the Institute of Metals. It covers the worldwide literature on metallurgy and materials.
  • Polymer online, the online version of the Second Edition of the Encyclopedia of Polymer Science and Engineering, published by John Wiley and Sons and accessible through Dialog (file 322).
  • RAPRA, file 323 on Dialog and available also on STN. The database is focused on rubbers, plastics, adhesives, and polymeric composites. Produced by Rapra Technology Limited.
  • TRIBO is a bibliographic database covering the worldwide literature on tribology, i.e., on fundamentals and applications of friction, wear and lubrication. Special emphasis is given to literature from Eastern Europe and to non-conventional literature. Available on STN.
  • World Surface Coatings Abstracts, file 31 on Dialog, produced by the Paint Research Association and dealing with paints, coatings, pigments, inks, and adhesives.

Numerical (Chemical-Physical Properties) databases

  • COPPERDATA, published by the Copper Development Association Inc., contains up-to-date numeric data for over 160 wrought and almost 100 cast U.S. coppers and copper alloys. Available on STN.
